Trullo Sovrano, Alberobello

The Trullo Sovrano rises towards the north of Alberobello, behind the Cathedral of the Santi Medici Cosma and Damiano. It stands out among the others since it is the first trullo to have been constructed using mortar and is the only two-story trullo that can be accessed from the inside by a brick stairway.

It was built by the priest Cataldo Perta's family in the first part of the 18th century, and the priest lived there while his staff resided in the nearby trulli.

The name "Sovereign" refers to the trujillo's majestic appearance, since it is easy to see the 14-meter-tall conical dome that dominates a cluster of twelve cones from the outside. But inside, there are actual furnishings and items.

Trullo Sovrano was listed as a UNESCO property in 1996 after being named a National Monument in 1923. In the town of Alberobello, in the province of Bari, Puglia, Italy, stands the distinctive and historic Trullo Sovrano. Trullo Sovrano is regarded as one of the best examples of this architectural style and is a form of traditional dry stone cottage from Apulia with a conical roof.

The 18th century structure of the building is distinguished by its elegance and harmony. It is made up of a central room that is formed like a cone and has a dome roof, surrounded by smaller rooms that are also conical in shape and are connected by arches and covered pathways. The trullo's over a meter thick local stone walls offer great insulation and defense against the sweltering Puglian sun.

The inside of Trullo Sovrano has been exquisitely renovated and decorated, keeping its classic design while incorporating contemporary amenities. With its tall dome ceiling and gorgeous tiled floor, the middle chamber is especially remarkable. A genuinely distinctive and genuine vacation experience is offered by the smaller rooms, which have been transformed into cozy bedrooms and living areas. Being in the center of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most well-known tourist sites in Puglia, is one of Trullo Sovrano's most notable features. The trulli, which are regarded as a representation of the area's traditional agricultural architecture, are the town's most famous feature. The Alberobello trulli were initially utilized as transitory houses for farmers and shepherds, and they were constructed without mortar to facilitate simple dismantling in the event that the local authorities so ordered.

Visitors to Alberobello are welcome to stroll around the town's winding, narrow alleyways, which are dotted with trulli of all sizes and forms, and to take in the elaborate emblems and decorations that adorn the conical roofs. A bustling market selling regional foods and crafts can be found in the town, along with a number of museums, churches, and ancient buildings.

In conclusion, Trullo Sovrano is a genuinely one-of-a-kind and charming structure that gives guests the chance to see Puglia's traditional rural architecture in a cozy and fashionable atmosphere.
