Where is Peroni made?

The first Birra Peroni manufacturing facility in Bari was established in 1924. The current facility, constructed in July 1963 to a design by the Detroit firm Harley-Ellington & Day, has been running continuously since then. The plant has a 185,500 square meter footprint and a 1.9 million hectoliter annual production capacity.

Peroni, Nastro Azzuro, Raffo, Wuhrer, Tourtel, Nastro Azzurro Zero, Peroni Leggera, Peroni Nastro Azzurro Gluten Free, Peroni 3.5, and Peroni Nastro Azzurro 3.5 are the brands produced in Bari on the three production lines specifically dedicated to bottles.

Nostrano dell Isola maize is one of the primary components in Peroni beer. This particular kind of maize is native to the small Italian town of Bergamo, and it grows in a lush plain there that locals refer to as "the island between the earth" since it lies between the Adda and Brembo rivers. With low frost and soil watered by recently melted snow from the neighboring Alps, its unique location offers the ideal circumstances for maize cultivation. Peroni beer benefits from Nostrano dell'Isola, which gives it a characteristic purity and a pale, golden hue evocative of prosecco.

The two types of hops used by Peroni are Saaz-Saaz and Hallertau Magnum. These varietals have a mild finish and a subdued yet alluring citrus aroma. The two-row spring barley used in Peroni beers and Italian maize and hops gives the beer its distinctively crisp and energizing flavor. Peroni continues to employ pure "soft" water low in carbonates for a pleasant taste, adhering to the generational formula.

We can find other beer varieties under the Peroni brand that are catered to a larger audience. The numerous Peroni varieties that are now available are listed below.

Peroni Nastro Azzuro

The alcohol content of Peroni Nastro Azzurro is 5.1% by volume, with minor regional variations. The beer was created with traditional Italian attention to detail and with the tastes of the Mediterranean in mind. Roberto represents the third generation of master brewers for Birra Peroni in the Cavalli family, assuring the high caliber and standards of the beer. The components that ensure Peroni Nastro Azzurro's outstanding and genuinely Italian flavor are Italian passion, attention to detail, and workmanship.

Raffo Beer

Italian beer Raffo was brewed in Taranto's eponymous brewery from 1919 until 1987. The brand was transferred to Peroni in 1961; Peroni is a subsidiary of SABMiller, a South African company. Raffo is currently made in Rome's Peroni Brewery. Peroni decided to shut down its brewery in Taranto and move operations to Bari in 1987, closing a significant chapter in the city's industrial history. Raffo remained Taranto's most widely consumed beer, nonetheless.
