In Puglia, it is said that time has stopped! Wake up in this slow flow of time, in the simplicity and comfort of Villa Lucia, a country house with accommodation and surroundings full of natural light split over two-levels, a place where you are reminded of the scents of the woods, of the beauty of nature and vivid colours of the enormous blue sky. Appreciated at its best from the shade of the grand old European oak tree that overhangs the poolside.
Villa Lucia sits in a corner spot, on a country lane; a crossroads favoured by field workers, cyclists, walkers and the local commuters on their way to the market village of Cisternino for their daily supplies. A nearby hamlet Caranna, just a short drive away, a sprint on the bike away, has a mini-market selling an array of locally produced products and essentials, a couple of restaurants, most notably Il Capriccio, the Pizzeria and restaurant specializing in fresh pasta dishes and roasted meats.
A twenty-minute drive away and you’re by the sea and faced with the choice of which beach club (lido) to spend the day at or seafood restaurant to lunch or dine in?
The winding rural roads from Villa Lucia take you to nearby Cisternino, with all the amenities and facilities required; supermarkets, restaurants, bars, boutiques, festivals and entertainment throughout the summer months.
Cisternino is in an area characterized by the trullo and drystone walls that surround the olive groves and vineyards. The village backs on to the hilltops that overlook the expansive coastline of the Adriatic; an energetic walk away from Villa Lucia and you can view this spectacle with your own eyes.
What is there to see and do in Cisternino?
Friends & Family
It is rare to have the occasion to rent a property with 4 bedrooms that comfortably sleeps and accommodates 8 adults or family with children, big and small. The grandparents can have their accommodation too, giving the everyone the privacy needed to ensure your Puglia holiday goes as planned.
A home where you can decompress and rest when it suits. Villa Lucia is divided to ensure the occupants have total privacy within a spacious house with clean lines, light and a soft soothing style.
The upper floors have two naturally, well-lit bedrooms with wardrobe space and night tables. The master bedroom surveys the poolside and the twin takes its views from the fields behind Villa Lucia; both share the main shower room. A well facilitated kitchen and comfy lounge off the main corridor leads out on to the main patio furnished with outside table and chairs.
Detached and externally accessed via an outside stairwell, the lower two bedrooms are equally bright with large glass paned windows, independent access and private shower rooms.
There is a constant dialogue between the white façade set against the blue Apulian sky and the distinct freshness offered by the ancient oak tree that provides a canopy of green foliage by the infinity pool. The outside areas are designed for enjoying the conviviality of friendship.
The large solarium indulges the sun worshipper, essential loungers are dotted about plus some easy chairs for daydreaming. But by evenfall, Villa Lucia takes on a new life. There is a silence of rest, only the hum of the crickets fill the air. The outside lighting bounces off the warm waters of the aquamarine pool, catching you in a moment of complete restfulness.
