Karen & Michael - Villa Perego (October 2021)
Experience true tranquillity at one of Relax Puglia’s ‘Home for Holidays’ in the southernmost region of Italy. Puglia has attracted engaged couples and honeymooners for many centuries, due to its stunning landscapes, pristine coastline, sleepy hilltop towns and slow pace of life. The region has the sensation that time has stood still, and that’s all you could wish for during your holiday with close friends and family.
Relax Puglia provides a range of additional services to make your stay more relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable. On your arrival, we can arrange for a food basket to be waiting for you together with a selection of local wines. Why not spoil yourselves with your own, in-house local chef, or a luxurious massage in the comfort of your villa. We have a wide range of tours and activities to choose from and we can provide transfers and taxis to help you get around.
The Dolce Vita is from coast to coast; from the Adriatic to the Ionian, between Otranto and Gallipoli. If you wish to discover the key to local artisan excellence, include a stopover in one or more of the hamlets and villages that trip along the coastline, topple on the summits of hilltops or make a splash in to the small bays and lagoons.
A selection of articles that explore the region of Puglia: its wonderful countryside and coastline, its rich history, its fascinating culture, its delicious food and wine and, of course, its warm and welcoming people...
One storey summer villa, surprising and innovative architectural choices, making use of the natural light and energetic space.
From the wild natural landscape is generated a magnificent panoramic pool, decked by contemporary pieces of sun umbrellas and furniture, a stone staircase to reach the upper sundeck for a far-reaching perspective of the estate where you can enjoy the views of the boundless skies, and puzzle together the conical buildings that dot the countryside.
Location
From the villa you have a bird’s eye view of the hilltop town of Cisternino, (4 kms) its whitewashed houses and narrow cobbled streets, crammed with a staggering selection of restaurants, bars and curious boutiques.
Villa Beatrice is a short cycle or walk to the labyrinth of winding country lanes of the surrounding and all-embracing Valle d’Itria.
If tempted, a vehicle ride brings you the outlying boroughs towards the baroque town of Martina Franca, the white wine headquarters of Locorotondo, the often overlooked (but please don’t!) Ceglie Messapica and the great ‘White Town’ of Ostuni.
There is much to explore further afield, our Guide Michele, suggests visiting the spectacular sights of perhaps the octagonal shaped Castle ‘Castel del Monte’, built by King Frederick the II in the 1300s; Gravina in Puglia where the iconic 007 made his grand leap off the Roman bridge; Matera – a fascinating complex of cave dwellings; the port and riviera of fine restaurants in Trani; the sweeping views and charming old town of Otranto, and one of our favourite cities of all Italy, Lecce, need we say more…..
Family & Friends
Long Winter weekends, Spring breaks, longer stretches of time in Summer and Autumn to linger; to spend some time in Villa Beatrice is to be sheltered from everything, at any time of the year. A place to think of more genuine pleasures and bring families and friends together.
The Interiors
Very tall, vaulted ceilings give a viewpoint from one room to another. An extraordinary passion for design, strong lines, natural materials with significant elegance.
A highly functional kitchen, stylish and well-organised, serves multiple purposes; apart from cooking, a station for smart working or simply for chatting over the central island. A bit of mood lighting overhead illuminates the central work top, that connects to the back yard through French double-glazed windows and the breakfast patio.
The lounge, that celebrates light and nature, is comfortable and contemporary, furnished with a green twist, creating an easy aesthetic ambient. A perfect place for curling up with a book after a long day outdoors exploring.
Two double bedrooms with their own private ensuite, a mirror of the other. Another duality exists, but not connected, the children's dorm. The twin room which ma accommodate two or three, it is spacious, with soft spirited colouring embellished with bold fabrics.
The interiors are deeply pleasing, sought after in every detail, designed for aesthetic appreciation and creative simplicity.
Exteriors
The seduction of interior pastels is much different to the external scene, a place of light and white. Covered terraces encircle the villa, each with the purpose, a passion for food at distinct or non-distinct intervals of the day; breakfast, nibbles, brunch, lunch, aperitif or fine-dining beneath the stars.
A beautiful deep sea green pool forces the eye to climb the panoramic terraces that dominate the all-encompassing Valley d’Itria, viewed from a higher stage, the conical buildings that mark the countryside seem to multiply in numbers along the horizon.
